Every day...
People suffered from anxiety, depression, PTSD, and burnout.
UntIl one day...
a neuroscientist,
an athlete,
and a rapper
walked into a bar
to meet with A BUDDHIST SADHAKA.
This is the book we wrote.
PTSD, BURNOUT, AND RESILIENCE
A reproducible, evidence-based approach, DONTPUNKOUT is a book about saving yourself because no one else will. Neuroscientists scanned the brains of people with traumatic brain injuries, chronic stress, and a bunch of Yogis and Buddhists who have clocked 10,000+ hours meditating.
What did they find?
What is an amygdala?
Turns out, there's a little almond-sized part of your brain called the amygdala and it is completely fucking up your life. PTSD, burnout, anxiety, and depression have been linked to small or dysfunctional amygdalae (you have two). Meanwhile, 10k+ Buddhists and Yogis have 5x larger amygdalae than normal folks; in other words, superhuman-functional amygdalae. This one part of the brain is the hardware for both extreme PTSD and extreme compassion.
How did they do that?
longer, deeper flow states
Mental health and peak performance are top of mind in a post-COVID, working-from-home economy. Neuroscientists and the US military tried using surfing-induced flow states on veterans with severe PTSD: 100% of study participants reported 90% reduction in symptoms. Meanwhile, the Buddhists and Yogis have been isolating and growing specific parts of their brains with nine levels of "heightened psychic states" (they call them jhānas) for 3000 years.

Charles and I go way back to the green polo and khaki days, but we took different paths. As a professional football player, I understand the importance of having grit and resilience and the ability to stay focused when the going gets tough... but the ability to isolate and grow your "resilience muscle"?
When Charles brought me a draft of his book and showed me these moves, I knew this would be an absolute gamechanger. I was in the gym to keep my body strong after the league, but what about keeping my mind strong? Most players leave the league with a few concussions, but we just "hope it gets better." Neuroplastic Workouts are a quick, easy, and fun way to strengthen mental resilience and heal previous damage so I can tackle any challenge that comes my way.

The great joy of working with Charles is his ability to translate esoteric philosophies into discrete tactics, while always cracking jokes. You will laugh and gasp as he speaks in scientific terms about yoga, Daoist terms about business, and Buddhist terms about "flow states." Carving a niche for himself as a kind of cyber-scientist Alan Watts for a new generation, Charles effortlessly and clearly connects dots across continents, time, and cultures to bring forth a quick, easy, and fun system anyone can use to heal and improve their minds.

About the author
This instruction manual for self-salvation comes not from enlightened observations made atop a mountain in the clouds, but from the mud. My qualification is not that I am better than you, but rather I was at one time, much worse.
Charles Morgan lives a mostly-analog life teaching Neuroplastic Workouts to high-performance teams in New York, recovering “tech expats” in Miami, and juvenile delinquents in Las Vegas.
See you on the other side. DONTPUNKOUT before you get here.
